Holiday shopping sales show traditional major shopping days are losing prominence in 2022 as Cyber week Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday is expected to drive 11.3 billion in online shopping spending resulting in a 5.8 percent growth year over year. The holiday shopping season is off to a good start as consumers have already spent 107.7 billion online through November 28, 2022, up 8.7 percent Adobe. Target is running two sets of holiday discounts from December 16-17 and one from December 18-24 offering late holiday deals on popular product categories including accessories, clothing, appliances, footwear, toys, video games, seasonal trees, and decor items.
Nearly 217 million Americans 84 percent plan to buy gifts for friends and loved ones this holiday season according to new NerdWallet survey analysis. Those holiday shoppers plan to spend 823 dollars on average for a total of more than 178 billion in gift spending. Most consumers plan to shop for holiday sales but not just for gifts as nearly 7 to 10 Americans 68 percent planned to shop on Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2022. Half of those shoppers 50 percent say they will spend most on gifts while shopping these sales and 30 percent will spend most on necessities for their home or family that do not gift items. Inflation is impacting how shoppers approach to gift giving this year. The majority of shoppers 83 percent plan to take action as a result of inflation when purchasing gifts this year giving different types of gifts compared to years passed 36 percent and spending less per person compared to years passed 35 percent says NerdWallet. A wide assortment of retailers discounts popular products during the holiday shopping season on Black Friday including tv’s electronics at doorbuster sales. Electronics retailer BestBuy said the lead up to the Super Bowl and the holiday season are two of the best times to buy a tv but if you are shopping last minute the store also offers a deal of the day section.
